\"\"<\/a>Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF)<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

The purpose of the Auxiliary Emergency Fund Committee is to raise funds for the\u00a0Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF), to promote knowledge about the program, and to\u00a0send information to members about the application process. The AEF was created to\u00a0help members who have suffered a significant financial setback as the result of an act of\u00a0nature or other personal crisis when no other source of aid is readily available.<\/p>\r\n

AEF Assistance Information<\/b><\/p>\r\n

The AEF can provide eligible members with temporary aid only for the following:<\/p>\r\n

1. Financial crisis: funds for retaining primary shelter and essential utilities.<\/p>\r\n

2. Disaster relief: for weather-related emergencies and natural disasters.<\/p>\r\n

In each case, as a first course of action, persons are encouraged to make every effort to secure financial assistance through local, state, and federal agencies before applying to\u00a0the ALA for AEF assistance.<\/p>\r\n

Current members of the ALA who have maintained continuous membership for at least\u00a036 months based upon their join or rejoin date are eligible to apply. Additional\u00a0information is available on the national website.<\/p>\r\n

AEF Grant<\/b><\/p>\r\n

The maximum amount of any AEF grant is $3000 and may be disbursed as decided by\u00a0the National AEF Grant Committee. Payments may be made directly to the member, or\u00a0at the discretion of the National committee, to a mortgage company or utility company.<\/p>\r\n

Reminders: AEF collections and donations are restricted funds, and donations may be\u00a0<\/i>sent to the ALA Department Headquarters, and from there to the National Headquarters\u00a0<\/i>or <\/i>donations can be made directly by texting AEF to 1-844-940-3450 or online at\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/i>https:\/\/members.legion-aux.org\/ALAMembers\/ALAMembers\/Fundraising\/Give-Now-<\/i>LA.aspx?ItemId=ALA_AEF<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/a> Applications for AEF assistance must go to the National\u00a0<\/i>AEF Grant Committee. Funds are not disbursed at the Unit or Department level.<\/i><\/p>\r\n
