<\/a>Dear Members,<\/p>\nThank you for allowing me the honor and privilege of representing you as your Department President in 2016-2017.\u00a0 I know that our department will have an outstanding epic year, as we are \u201cCardinals flying everywhere spreading joy, peace and love.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Our mission statement best defines our passion and our service: In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>The cardinal embraces the values of each of you as members of this great organization.<\/p>\n Our national incoming president\u2019s theme for the upcoming year is \u201cBEACON FOR VETERANS.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 This year we will be praising and sharing our members\u2019 accomplishments.\u00a0 By sharing these praises within the department and our communities, I am confident the Department of Virginia will achieve 100%+ in membership early, including our juniors, to strengthen our family. Our members\u2019 enthusiasm and dedication will surely excite new members. Our passion for this organization will increase and show on each of our faces as we discuss our mission, programs, and activities- who would not want to join the American Legion Auxiliary, the world\u2019s largest patriotic service organization?<\/p>\n My project this year will be to reach out to our Veterans Hospital to assist our female veterans in supporting their reentry and stability into society. It is my hope that you will support this project in the true Department of Virginia style as we enrich their journey and show them our gratitude through our actions.<\/p>\n I am excited about working with you as we share our visions, exchange ideas, and celebrate our EPIC achievements. Thank you for your faith, service, and confidence you have placed in me as your Department President. Your continuous support is the foundation of our success.\u00a0 I am looking forward to the meaningful accomplishments we will have together.
